Ryan Wellner, Director

Entering his 2nd Season at Division 1 Stony Brook University, Ryan brings a wealth of lacrosse experience and runs the defense while assisting with all aspects of the Seawolves men's lacrosse program, most notably recruiting.  Last year Stony Brook finished ranked #20 in the final NCAA Division I poll.  Wellner came to Stony Brook after spending a season as the men's assistant coach and defensive coordinator at Washington & Lee University in Virginia, helping the Generals to a 9-6 record. Prior to W&L he served as the defensive coordinator for three seasons at the Stevens Institute of Technology in New Jersey where he helped lead the Ducks to a pair of NCAA Tournament berths. Wellner's defenses produced a pair of All-America defensemen and ranked among the Top 10 in Division III in scoring defense.

A 2000 graduate of Mary Washington College with a bachelor of science in business management, Wellner also served as an assistant coach at the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy (2004) and Chaminade High School (2003), and served as the Director of Operations for the National Lacrosse League from 2001-2003.

He was a captain and four-year letterwinner for the lacrosse team at Mary Washington, earning the school's Outstanding Senior Award in 2000
